Life on the Mekong River

In 2019, I did a 4 months trip around south-east Asia, during wich I spent a couple of days on the Mekong River, the third-longest river in Asia. It runs through six countries (China, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam) with a lenght of 4,909 km. Here are some of photos I shot during that journey.

Little port of Huay Xai, North Laos.

Local merchants loading the boats to Thailand.

I took place on this slow boat, going from Huay Xai to Luang prabang by the river. It takes two days to complete the trip, and you get to see a lot of beautiful landscapes. I like the perspective of the boat moving through this beautiful nature surrounding and this is what I tried to represent in that particularly picture.

The heat on the boat was quite high, for that reason we had to let this window constantly open to bring a bit of fresh air.

After the two days trip to Luang Prabang, I went south and did a short stop in the 4 000 thousand islands to see the Irrawaddy Dolphins, and Kalei was one of the local guide who drove the “speed boat”.

Khon Phapheng Falls, a “must see ” in the 4 000 islands.

On the way back to my hostel that day, I saw this kid playing on a boat, and really liked the contrast between his orange shirt and the color of the sunset reflecting on the water in front of him.

In Vietnam, I decided to visit the famous Cai Rang floating market. From 4 a.m to 11 a.m : here are the photos I shot on that day :
